About Me

-My Career in Horse Racing-

I was born in Tipperary, home to Coolmore, and developed a passion for horses at an early age. I started riding at just four years old and began my professional racing career at 18, achieving my first win with the horse Money Point at Limerick.

Throughout my career, I have ridden winners at all tracks in Ireland, including prestigious venues such as Epsom, Cheltenham, and Aintree.

My fist job in racing while still at school was with M.V O’Brien at ballydoyle county tiperary now home to Aidan O’brien

M.V O'Brien was a highly influential trainer from Churchtown, County Cork. In 2003, he was voted the greatest influence in horse racing history in a global poll by the Racing Post and was recognized as the best trainer of both National Hunt and flat racehorses in earlier polls. He trained six Epsom Derby winners and achieved three Grand Nationals in succession. Notably, he also trained Nijinsky, the only British Triple Crown winner since World War II. O'Brien was a two-time British champion trainer in both flat and National Hunt racing, making him the only trainer to achieve this under both codes. After his retirement, Aidan O'Brien (no relation) took over the Ballydoyle stables.

My Experiences

I had the privilege of working for Dessie Hughes for 5 years, he is a respected Irish horse trainer and former jockey known for his significant contributions to National Hunt racing. Born on May 18, 1947, in County Kildare, Hughes transitioned from a successful jockey to a trainer in the 1990s. He trained numerous notable horses, earning a reputation for developing young talent and achieving success at prestigious events like the Cheltenham Festival. Dessie’s strategic approach to training left a lasting impact on the sport, and his legacy continues to inspire aspiring trainers. He passed away in 2021, but his influence on the racing community remains strong.

Additionally, I gained valuable experience in the United States, working with Alex Hartill in equine veterinary care at Churchill Downs.

I worked with J.S Bolger for 2 years before become assistant to LIAM BROWN who trained at the Curragh Headquarters of Irish RACING .

I also had the honor of assisting John D. O’Sullivan, a distinguished racehorse traine in the US. Notably, many of his winners were ridden by the legendary Willie Shoemaker.

Aidan O’Brien, who started his career with me P.J Finn and spent 18 months at Crothanstown in County Kildare before joining J.S. Bolger at Coolcullen in County Carlow. A P O’Brien is renowned for his exceptional success in flat racing. Since 1996, he has become one of the greatest trainers in horse racing history, training numerous champions and amassing a record number of Group 1 victories.
